DSIC wins bid to build two LNG carriers

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) has been notified by China Shipping Group and Sinopec that it has won a bid to build two 170,000cu m LNG carriers for the Sinopec APLNG project in Australia.
DSIC will become the second shipyard in China, after Hudong Zhonghua, to build large scale LNG carriers. It also signed a letter of intent with Tianjin Marine in 2014 to build four LNG carriers.
Sinopec will import 7.6m tons of LNG annually from the APLNG project under a 20-year deal from 2015. China Shipping Group will provide shipping services for the project.
